Irene graduated with honors from the University of Guelph in 1996, specializing in biochemistry and nutrition. Irene then obtained her honors in holistic nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and founded Wellness Wizards Nutritional Consulting. www.wellnesswizards.com She is a registered member of the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants, and resides in Oakville with her husband and 2 children (ages 14 and 11), and 2 dogs.

Irene offers comprehensive nutritional counseling and menu-planning services and believes that the root cause of many illnesses and general poor health is largely due to improper digestion and unsuitable food choices. It follows that Irene’s protocols focus on improving digestion by not only addressing the quantity and quality of food eaten, but by educating clients on lifestyle changes and emotional issues which may be influencing their food intake. Irene quickly realized that the younger you are…the easier it is to make dietary changes that will produce the most positive health outcomes, and specialized in helping families and their children. Her clients insisted on a compilation of recipes and tips, and so in the summer of 2006, her first book, “Feed Me…I’m Hungry!” was born. “Feed Me…I’m Hungry!” is a comprehensive recipe and meal-planning book for busy, health-conscious families (with children of all ages) that deal with picky eaters and food sensitivities.

Irene services clients in the GTA by travelling to their homes or offices (on-site) between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday.

For Tuesday and Wednesday appointments, clients may book an appointment directly through Meridian Naturopathic Clinic. Visit www.meridianclinic.com for more information. Irene is Meridian’s On-site Holistic Nutritionist, focusing on menu-planning and lifestyle management.

Irene currently teaches for the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, specializing in: Nutritional Ecology, and Menu-planning for a variety of conditions including Hypoglycemia and Diabetes, Autism, and Celiac Disease. Irene’s most popular seminar is “Baby Food Basics” where she educates her students hands-on, and teaches them how to instruct moms regarding food introduction. Topics include the actual how-to’s of infant feeding and making your own baby food to the science behind which foods should be introduced at which age, and how to “get creative” if baby “gets picky”. Since its inception, Irene has presented “Baby Food Basics” to the public at a number of venues including Loblaws, Whole Foods Market, The Baby Times Show, and Mommy & Baby Fitness. Irene has appeared at several events as the nutrition expert, including the “Babes and Tots on the Go” seminar series, presented by Parents Canada.

Irene’s passion for educating parents on the value of nutritious food is what aroused the attention of Tanya Moore (president of Healthy Sprouts Organic Baby Food) in early 2006. Since that time, Irene has worked with Tanya as a Nutritional Advisor, and took on a formal role as Director of Nutrition and Product Development in 2007. Visit www.healthysprouts.ca  to learn more.
