In this blog post Rachelle shares a list of her Top 10 favorite kitchen gadgets. How many kitchen gadgets do you own?

Kitchen gadgets promise to make life easier for the average cook.  Hardware stores are filled with boxes of kitchen appliances, cooking utensils, and cutlery. Unfortunately these items also take up a lot of kitchen storage space. Chefs use many kitchen gadgets, so I asked some of my chef friends to help me compile a list of essentials for every healthy kitchen. Here were the most popular answers.

1.  Blender - Is used to make smoothies/shakes and puree soups or sauces.

2.  Salad Spinner- Is in must have product for ever y healthy kitchen.
3.  Stir Fry Wok – Creates a better stir fry flavor and texture.
4.  Food Steamer- Steaming is healthier than boiling and produces more nutritious food.
5.  Food Processor – Makes chopping and blending food a breeze.
6.  Cutting Boards – Have separate cutting boards for vegetables, meats and breads.
7.  Rice Cooker- Makes the perfect rice every time can also be used as a steamer.
8.  Slow Cooker- A nutritious way to cook food, especially for families with busy schedules.
9.  Indoor Health Grill- Fat drains down the grill and out of foods, cooks food in less time.
10.Reusable Containers – Makes food storage so easy, great for packing lunches with.

Tomorrow night for supper take out your slow cooker and try a new recipe. Many evenings I cook up a piece of fish on the health grill, then steam up some vegetables in the steamer.  For breakfast blend up a nutritious shake in your blender.  At lunch time you can make a yummy salad and wash greens in a salad spinner. And for supper, take out your wok and create a fabulous stir fry for the entire family.
The possibilities are endless when you use your kitchen gadgets!

Not only does a good cook need gadgets, but also utensils. These kitchen essentials make food preparation easier, but take up extra kitchen space.  Some must have utensils for every healthy kitchen include: vegetable peeler, shredder, wooden spoons, rubber spatula, and kitchen shears. Cooking can be made easier with the right utensils.  After all, how many do you have in your kitchen?
