What’s lurking in Your Skin Care Products?

Preservatives and other additives in skin care formulations can be confusing and a real cause for concern. Preservatives are added to cosmetics to prevent the growth of microbes that are not always visible to the naked eye whereas other additives are included to modify the consistency of the product. However some preservatives can cause serious allergies in susceptible people along with other unpleasant side effects. Other additives have been linked to severe skin irritation, hair loss, and even cancer. Imagine what the long term effects of putting these ingredients on your skin can be! It is important to know and understand that most of what you put on your skin is absorbed into your body. Your skin can absorb up to 60% of substances that is applied to its surface. Below are just some of the ingredients that we avoid using in our skin caring products:

· Parabens are used as preservatives can mimic estrogen in the body and have been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. They are listed as alkyl, parahydroxy, butyl, methyl/ethyl/propylisobutyl. Parabens are found in some toothpastes, moisturizers and deodorants.

· Sodium Laurly Sulphate (SLS)
is one of the major ingredients in nearly every shampoo, bubble bath, liquid soap etc. It is known as a skin irritant, stops hair growth, can cause cataracts in adults and damage children’s eye development.

· Propylene Glycol is a cosmetic form of mineral oil (refined crude oil) use in industrial antifreeze. It is used in cosmetics because it is cheap and gives a glide factor in body lotions. It is a major ingredient is in most moisturizes, skin creams, baby wipes and sunscreens. It is known to rob lower layers of skin of moisture causing it to age faster than if nothing was used.

· Artificial fragrance and colour
have been linked to allergies and breathing difficulties.
· Diethanolamine also Tri and Mono (DEA, TEA, MEA) are absorbed through skin where they can accumulate and combine with products containing nitrates to form nitrosamines which are carcinogenic (cancer forming).

· Petroleum and mineral oil
are added to many cosmetic and skin care products and are known for clogging pores so your skin can’t breath. This can promote acne.

· Formaldehyde/formaldehyde donors
are known carcinogens (causes cancer). They can also causes allergies, skin irritation and contact dermatitis, headaches and chronic fatigue. The vapour is extremely irritating to the eyes, nose and throat.

As a natural skin care company we are concerned with the use of harsh chemicals and preservatives in many cosmetic products. Vysada offers you a more natural approach, using mild preservatives with no parabens, formaldehydes, and formaldehyde donors. Furthermore, our products contain no estrogens or sodium laureth sulfate, mineral oils, animal by-products and are never tested on animals.

From now on it is about pure, clean and natural!
