Empower Your Clients Through Your Actions

By: Sabrena Salahudeen

When we understand that confidence, accountability, and assertiveness play vital roles in developing an empowering perspective then the universe lays out unlimited opportunities that expand our consciousness based on our ability to experience the joys of living. The foundation for moving towards our highest potential is based on several factors that great coaches like us can perceive, work with, and navigate through a client’s self sabotaging behaviours (that we even have ourselves).

1.    Perceived stress like listening to negative self talk, compared to real stress like commuting during rush hour traffic cause the same cascade of biochemical reactions within each of us which means our body cannot differentiate what is stressful. Our thoughts and feelings create our reality so by taking accountability of what we focus on and how we manage our stress then empowering our clients and ourselves is a matter of working from a place beyond stress and frustration. Confidence and assertiveness are empowering through the use of a series of exercises.

2.    Think about someone who is confident that you admire as a role model and what mannerisms and behaviours they are known for.  If it works for them; it will work for you. Smile a lot more. That doesn’t mean putting a silly grin on your face! But smile when you walk down the street, when you meet people and generally be happier even if you’re not feeling that way. By redirecting your thoughts and feelings you are creating a happier state of being. Happiness is no longer a transient feeling and empowered people know this and live from this higher perspective.

3.    Be positive. Look on the “can do” side of things rather than the “can’t do”. You’ve accomplished lots in your life and you will accomplish lots more in the future. Do you let the words of others affect you? Do you mind what they think of you? Remember that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. It’s not what they say to you that are the problem it’s what you say to yourself after they have stopped talking that’s the problem. Change the way you think. You can heal your life through embracing your endless possibilities.

4.    Be in charge of your thoughts at all times. What is a thought? It’s just a question that you’ve asked yourself and the thought is your answer. If you’re thinking negative thoughts, you’re probably asking a negative question. Change the questions to be more positive. Whenever you feel a negative thought coming, STOP, THINK, and say is this really important in the grand scheme of things. A lot of the time it isn’t. Many people in life major in minor things!

5.    Are you prepared for situations? Are you prepared enough to meet any challenge that may come up? Are you prepared for that meeting, that presentation, that job interview, when you meet someone for the first time? If not, get to it. Being prepared is taking accountability for your situations by empowering yourself with the knowledge of how to handle people and different settings to your best advantage.

6.    Play to your strengths. Know what you are good at and expose yourself to these opportunities at every opportunity. Because you’re good at it, you’ll enjoy it and have more confidence. Improve your weaknesses over time with knowing these are where the most rewarding life lessons stem from. Appreciating what these are and putting a plan in place to improve them over time can go a long way towards achieving goals.

7.    Learning to say no to people is one of the most difficult and rewarding gifts. You’ve got nothing to be afraid of from others because as you live more confidently and conduct yourself with focus and trust in your abilities you are creating an empowering reality that others can learn from. You cannot teach, mentor, guide, or support others if you are not walking your talk. Prioritize and focus on goals that empower you. When you conserve your power and centre your positive thoughts and feelings on success then others will benefit from the example you set.

8.    Be appreciative of what you have to be thankful for in your life right now. Who do you love? Who loves you? Who do you help out? Gratitude and appreciation go hand in hand. You open yourself to infinite divine support and guidance from the universe through this profound daily practice.

9.    Improve your body language. The way that you move your body has a massive impact on your confidence levels. Move your body assertively and walk with your head up, shoulders back and as though you’ve got somewhere very important to go. That being said your voice is a powerful tool that carries your wealth of life experience, forgiveness, compassion, and personal strength. Empowered speech and walking your talk that mirrors your authentic inner self is liberating and terrifying to most. Let go of your fears and be the born leader you are meant to be.

  1. Buy yourself some new clothes, go on an adventure vacation, get an image makeover in alignment with your empowered self, treat yourself to something relaxing, rejuvenating, or that renews your spirit. It will make you feel better and you will easily remain empowered and confident because you are prioritizing your self care and nurturing that secret part of you that requires nurturing, comfort, and joy.

Empowerment requires a game plan and someone to aid your progress. All great people in history all had a mentor, guide, or coach in some form or another. Success is a progression of small compelling moments in time, not a large conclusion to your life journey. As Edith Wharton once wrote, “be the light of the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”
